Yuchai Releases 16L Hydrogen-Ready Diesel for Long-Haul Trucks
Yuchai unveiled the K16H, a 16-litre diesel that can be converted to 100 % hydrogen with only piston and injector swaps. The platform uses a 350-bar compression ratio, sodium-cooled valves and a forged steel crank to handle hydrogen’s 150 °C higher combustion temperature. In diesel mode it delivers 485 kW and 2,800 N·m, meeting Euro-7 with a dual-stage EGR and SCR-only after-treatment. Chinese OEMs will begin fleet pilots in 2026; EU homologation is slated for 2027.
